Beautiful..

So sweet in it's pain and hope!

ib422000 on Thursday, July 24, 2008
Everytime I hear this song, I realize it's immense depth and emotional
strength. Almost brings tears to think that nothing has really changed in
the world, except the bittersweet hope in the soulful message of this
beautifully sung, composed and written song.

TalatFifties on Saturday, July 26, 2008
Very moving sad song from a classic movie.Wah Sahir saheb apne tadap kar
tadpa dia!Bahut khoob kaha hai!

clean , soft , heart toching and well civilised shots

V. Siddhartha on Thursday, December 04, 2008
Very well put, Ivan. John Keats said, If winter comes, can spring be far
behind? Sahir was our Keats, except that the hope amid despair was always
more slender and fragile in Sahir's poetry. The true state of our world is
better rendered in Sahir's poetry. So his words always move us ,and the
effect is doubled when two heavenly voices sing them, as here.

prabhat kumar basant on Monday, December 08, 2008
The softness of the voice, the fragility of hope have been melded into an
extraordinarily beautiful song. Thanks to Khayyam, Mukesh, Asha and most of
all Sahir. Thank you for uploading the song.

Vikas Gupta on Sunday, February 08, 2009
Thiis is something brilliant work by Sahir where he is hopeful for a silver
lining in future despite all the world of problems. Hearttouching message!
All the kudos to Sahir.

Typical Ra] Kapoor's depressing song.

Mukesh's voice seems like god's voice.

yogendra khokhar on Thursday, June 25, 2009
What a song! Mukesh was simply out of this world. Alongwith Kishore and
Rafi,he gave something unforgettable.I feel both Mukesh and Asha remained a
bit unused and did not get their due because of their more illustrious
colleagues.Possibly, Mukesh could not come to terms with the changing times
and innovate. But he was great. No two views about that.

aceji on Friday, July 03, 2009
An exceptional song depicting PAIN,SORROW-yet HOPE AND ASPIRATIONS OF
DOWNTROADEN OF THIS MISERABLE WORLD. Old song but still true and ever
effective. IMMORTAL MUKESHJI WITH ASHAJI.

aceji on Friday, July 03, 2009
MEANING: That morning will dawn upoun us someday when clouds of pain will
vanish and ocean of happiness will overflow. We consume poison today in the
hope of finding nectar someday. The sky will dance of happiness and the
earth will sing melody. We die daily for centuries in the hope of a happy
dawn. Once a luck will shine on us hungry, thirsty souls. THAT MORNING WILL
COME ONE DAY.

Sahir "jis subah kee khaatir jug jug se, hum sab mar mar kar jite hain"

nandu1f on Tuesday, January 26, 2010
Touching poetry. Immortal composition. I remember how I was swayed by the
lofty sentiments listening to this song as a teenager. Looking back, the
socialistic messages from the movie and poetry castigating the well-off for
all the ills of the society feel so hollow. Being so utopian may be good
escapism, but it is just delusional Urdu poetry. Sahir and Dostoevsky
mislead one from own responsibility.

MandarThe on Monday, February 01, 2010
Can't agree with you more. The fatalism, exaggerated romanticism makes for a good poetry though and perhaps should just be taken as that - good time pass.

Amit Malhotra on Tuesday, February 02, 2010
In a democratic world, perhaps it seems hollow, but he is not castigating
the "well-off" only. He is also wishing for some changes in the world.
Agreed that Sahir was socialistic, there's no way I'll deny that, but to
say that he mislead one from own responsibility is false. He did not, he
just wanted a better world. Lines like "miTTi ka bhi hai kuchh mol magar
insaanoN ki qeemat kuchh bhi nahiiN" are so true. Even our martyrs such as
Bhagat Singh felt the same way about things.

nandu1f on Wednesday, February 03, 2010
@tanhaa1: You quoted a good line indeed to make your point, I concede. But
here is another from same movie.."Jitni bhi buildinge' thi, setho ne' baant
li hein", an example of Sahir extreme lyrics. Although poetic license &
hyperbole are accepted literary devices, "profound" sounding socialist
falshoods become political tools. I favor Sahir's pining-heart love songs.
One of his gem is from Light House, N.Datta composition.."Tang Aa chuke'
hain.. sung by Asha.

Amit Malhotra on Wednesday, February 03, 2010
Nandu: Some poet once said: "ya to deewana haNse ya tu jise taufeeq de;
varna is duniyaa meiN kyaa hai muskuraane ke liye". Nice isn't it? Coming
back to Sahir "jitni bhi buildinge thi" .. and how is that wrong? He is
absolutely right. Song written in 1958, some 10 years after our
independence, a mockery of Saare jahaaN se acchaa hindositaaN hamaaraa.. he
is absolutely right. This is not extreme lyrics, this is the truth of the
time, perhaps even today, portrayed through his words.

Hopes and aspirations of all of us for our future; we the downtrodden...Hats off to Khayyam sahib for making this song the beauty that it is. One of the best ever duets of Hindi cinema.

Wonderful song, lyric and melody. Fine for catharsis. Khalid Asghar. (11

*ChalChitraRasik*, a YouTube channel up loaded this excellent RARE melody.
It is a SIMPLE melody to sing, but some times, it is difficult to express a
SIMPLE melody with FULL convincing expression. The great Mukesh sang quite
perfect. Khalid Asghar.

Sahir is making life livable for the poor & hopeless people by giving hope.
Somebody else also talked about "HOPE & CHANGE" , we still waiting for.

Insaanoke keemat jab jhoote sikkey mein tholi najayegi..entire
philosophy in one sentence..hats off to Sahir. I heard from my eldest
brother that there was a ban initially on this movie specifically for the
searing lyrics.Sahir raised his voice even when everyone was kowtowing
to Nehru by his fearless poetry, in effect a scathing commentary on social
inequity, plunder and materialism! It's unfortunate that things have become
much worse now.
