shukriyaa hasti kaa lekin tumane ye kyaa kar diyaa
are parde hi parde me apanaa raaz afshaa kar diyaa

maang kar ham laaye the allaah se ek dard-e-ishq
vo bhi ab taqadir ne auro kaa hissaa kar diyaa

do hi agaare the haatho me khudaa-e-ishq ke
ek ko dil ek ko meraa kalejaa kar diyaa

mai to apani bekhudi-e-shauq ka mamanun hun
baarahaa mujh ko bhari mahafil me tanhaa kar diyaa

marahamat faramaa ke ai simaab gam ki lazzate
zist ki talkhi ko fitarat ne gavaaraa kar diyaa

Gratitude for existence, yet what have you wrought?
Veils unveiled, the secret of the heart is caught.
We begged of Allah for love's exquisite ache,
But fate, it seems, has others' portion to make.

Two embers held within love's deity's hand,
One, the heart, the other, my entrails to command.
I'm grateful for the rapture, the soul's sweet plight,
That in the crowded hall, I was made solitary light.

Have mercy, O Seemab, on sorrow's embrace,
Life's bitterness, nature has found its place.
