A longing blooms within my heart's core,

What strength did they possess, that we've not known?
Why did we fail to rise, to be overthrown?

They arrived with destinies, so grand,
Where elders cast their shadows on the land.
If only, we could have etched our names with pride,
And with courage, watered our nation's side.

When blossoms bloom each year within the glen,
The names of martyrs rise within our ken.
But who will ask, with a pause and a sigh,
"Your flame, it didn't burn, it did not die?"

Why tarry? Let us start anew,
To tell the untold stories, brave and true.
Our blood still flows, our spirit yet alight,
We can tear our hearts open, with all our might.

But today's hour does not demand the red,
An age that stifles passion, lies ahead.
How then, shall we be counted in the fold?
